School of Languages and Cultures Linguist Dr Martin Schweinberger was interviewed by the ARDC’s Jo Savill on a study he co-wrote with Dr Michael Haugh and Dr Sam Hames. The study was recently published in Big Data & Society.
The Australian Text Analytics Platform is helping researchers analyse large volumes of text to enhance our understanding of the impact of major events, like the COVID-19 pandemic, on society. China, curve, deaths, distancing, economic, lockdown, quarantine, schools, spread… These were the top words mentioned on Twitter in Australia about the pandemic from January to April 2020.[1]
