Congratulations to the first cohort of students from the Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting (MATI) program who have successfully graduated! Launched in Semester 2, 2022, the MATI program saw its inaugural group of students complete their studies and celebrate their achievements at the graduation ceremony held on July 12, 2024. Attending the ceremony were MATI students and teaching staff Akiko Uchiyama, Hideaki Maruoka, and Yang Xu, who have been instrumental in guiding these students through their academic journey.
In addition to graduating, several MATI students were recognised for their exceptional erformance. Zhizi Duan, Zisong Pan, Reina Robson, and Chunsheng Zhang received the AUSIT Student Excellence Award for their outstanding achievements in the program. The award was presented at the AUSIT Queensland Branch AGM on August 24, where Zhizi and Reina proudly accepted the honor on behalf of the group. A huge congratulations to all four students for this remarkable recognition!
Reina Robson, one of the award recipients, also made headlines by winning a students’ subtitling competition organised by Democracy Now Japan. Her subtitling work on the news segment Greenslide: Climate Crisis Spurs Green-Labor Win in Australian Election Over Pro-Coal, Right-Wing PM earned her first place in the competition. Reina’s accomplishments don’t stop there, she also secured funding through the Higher Degree Grant Program – Coursework Fee Support offered by the Queensland Program for Japanese Education (QPJE). Congratulations, Reina, on your exceptional achievements!
