The UQ Korean Studies Centre works closely with the Korean Studies program at the School of Languages and Cultures to strengthen Korean language and Korea-related education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
UQ offers a Korean major that combines systematic language training in:

Reading
Intercultural communication
with content-based study of Korean society and culture, popular culture, film, television and other contemporary cultural forms. Through this combination, students develop both practical Korean-language proficiency and a broader critical understanding of Korea in regional and global contexts.

that allow students to engage with researchers, alumni and specialists from Australia, Korea and other parts of Asia. These activities expose students to current issues in Korean Studies and provide opportunities to develop intercultural communication, research and professional skills.
UQ KSC also places strong emphasis on developing the next generation of Korean Studies scholars. With support from the Academy of Korean Studies Core University Program, the Centre has strengthened Higher Degree by Research (HDR) training and created opportunities for postgraduate students to participate in conferences, seminars, collaborative research and scholarly publication. UQ also provides Honours-level research training in Korean Studies. Through integrated language education, cultural studies, research training and international academic engagement, UQ KSC aims to create a sustainable pathway from undergraduate Korean Studies to advanced research and professional engagement with Korea and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
