This session will discuss Japanese language education from a comparative perspective. We will present the different teaching practices in mainstream and distance education settings in Australia and how Japanese language pedagogy differs between Australia and China. The session will introduce contemporary Japanese language teaching practices to Japanese language teachers and researchers and foster a reflection on how we could deliver Japanese language and culture to students in a more authentic and engaging style.

About Japanese Language Teacher Study Group

In our monthly online study group, teachers across QLD gather and forge strong bonds with each other while gaining valuable insights from real classroom experiences and cutting-edge language teaching approaches. Our monthly sessions also cover a wide variety of topics tailored to teachers' interests, presented through different formats, including presentations, discussions, lectures and more.

Starting in 2025, we are introducing a new initiative: Special Interest Groups (SIGs). As part of our monthly study group, SIG members lead mini-sessions to share their pedagogical practices, insights, and challenges related to their specific focus areas. Visit our platform to learn more about SIGs, their members and upcoming session schedules.
