Emeritus Professor Roly Sussex was recently awarded the insignia of the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques by Mr Bertrand Pous, the Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Action for France at the French Embassy in Canberra. The Ordre des Palmes Académiques, which dates back to the Napoleonic era, is a highly prestigious French award bestowed on distinguished academics and figures in the world of culture and education.
Emeritus Professor Sussex was President of the Alliance Française de Brisbane for a ten year period and is also an Alliance Française Life Member. The award was bestowed as part of the 110th anniversary celebrations of the Alliance Française de Brisbane.
