Celebrating excellence in teaching and learning

Congratulations to School of Languages and Cultures Dr Adriana Diaz and Dr Peter Crosthwaite for receiving the Teaching Excellence Awards at the annual Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Teaching and Learning Awards.

Dr Adriana Diaz is a Senior Lecturer and Spanish Discipline Coordinator who has been involved in teaching across Applied Linguistics, English, Italian and Spanish language programs in Australian higher education for nearly two decades.

Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics Dr Peter Crosthwaite has shared his extensive knowledge of corpus linguistics and the use of corpora for language learning (known as 'data-driven learning'), as well as English for General and Specific Academic Purposes with the School since 2017.

The award recognises outstanding examples of sustained excellence in teaching and a commitment to ensuring students graduate with the intellectual, analytical and communication skills to navigate their way through, and positively shape the evolution of the social world.
