As we head into graduations, it is a chance to reflect on and celebrate all that has happened in the past year in the School of Languages and Cultures. Of particular note has been the various events we have held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Spanish program at The University of Queensland.

We’ve also successfully navigated our way through a septennial review of the School. The external panel and other parties they consulted provided us with sage advice and recommendations about the future direction of the School, which we’ll be moving to implement over the next three years. A key focus of the energies of the School will be in promoting the learning of languages and cultures both within the University, and in the broader community.

I’d like to thank all the staff and students in the School for their contributions to our mission over the past year, and to wish everyone all the very best for the upcoming Christmas and New Year break.
