The Indigenous Language Revitalisation Team are providing Language outreach and On-Country learning through a series of industry and Community partnerships.

In 2023, the team was contracted by the New South Wales Aboriginal Language Trust (ALT) and the Gumbaynggirr Giingana Freedom School to co-develop literature review on good practice in immersion program delivery. The report was delivered and presented in February 2024, to the ALT and Freedom School staff and members of Bularri Muurlay Nyanggan Aboriginal Corporation at a Community meeting in Coffs Harbour.

In 2024, the team was awarded funding by the Indigenous Languages and Arts program to deliver On-Country learning to Communities in 2024 and 2025. The first On-Country workshop took place in April at Lightning Ridge, with Gamilaraay/Yuwaalaraay/Yuwaalayaay and Muruwari Community Language workers and was co-delivered by Language experts Priscilla Strasek and Liz Smith. View Lightning Ridge Report here.

Discussions are underway with further Communities as the team seeks to support a wider range of Communities and activities, to support the revitalisation of Indigenous Languages across Australia.
