The School of Languages and Cultures is offering a two-day workshop for QLD school teachers of Asian languages (Japanese, Chinese and Korean) to enhance teaching and language skills at all levels. During the School Term break and UQ mid-term break, teachers will have opportunities to reflect on pedagogy as well as to brush up on Japanese, Chinese or Korean. We hope the workshop will inspire participants through various activities that use some of the university course materials. Due to the successful delivery of the workshop for the three languages in 2024, we are happy to offer the workshop again this year.

The workshop is organised by the School of Languages and Cultures and generously funded by the J M Campbell Bequest.

Participants

The workshop is open to all school teachers of Japanese, Chinese and Korean in QLD (state, independent, private and community). Both full-time and part-time teachers are eligible. Participating teachers must be able to attend both days.

This is a free workshop with no participation fee. Lunch will be provided. Certificate will be presented at the end of the workshop.

Program

All sessions will be conducted mainly in the target language except the first common session for all teachers. The workshop starts with an overview of UQ programs and student pathways followed by five topic-based activities such as:
