5th Conference on Discourse, Culture & Interaction (DCI-5)

We are happy to announce the 5th Conference on Discourse, Culture & Interaction that provides a forum for researchers in the areas of Pragmatics, (Applied) Linguistics, Communication Studies, Cultural Studies among others to share their research findings. We welcome submissions from established scholars as well as early career researchers – including Honours, MA and PhD.
Abstracts are invited for papers on any topic relevant to pragmatics, qualitative discourse analysis, culture and interaction, including but not limited to:
- Social action in interaction;
- Identity construction;
- Multilingual speech communities;
- L2 studies/pragmatics;
- Intercultural/cross-cultural studies;
- Humour;
- Digital communication;
- (Im)politeness studies.
Abstract submission for 30-minute presentations
Abstracts (300-350 words, excluding references) need to be submitted via email (see below).
In your Word file please include: (1) title of the paper, (2) your full name, and (3) affiliation.
Please make sure that you clearly state your methodological approach(es) and the data used for analysis. All the abstracts will be anonymised prior to the peer-review process.
Work-in-progress session for students (15-minute presentations)
Abstracts (200-250 words, excluding references) need to be submitted via email (see below).
In your Word file please include: (1) Work-in-progress session, (2) title of the paper, (3) your full name, and (3) affiliation.
Please make sure that you clearly state your methodological approach(es) and the data used for analysis. All the abstracts will be anonymised prior to the peer-review process.
This conference is free of charge for presenters and attendees. The conference will be held in-person.
