Speaker: Dr Laura Emily Clark, a specialist in contemporary Japanese culture, literature, and gender ideals. She has PhD on Gender in Murakami Haruki's writing from the University of Queensland, and is a recipient of the Bando Mariko Fellowship from Showa Women's University in Tokyo.

Topic:  Discourses of Normality, the Demarcated Life Path, and Contemporary Japanese Fiction: Kawakami Hiromi, Motoya Yukiko and Murata Sayaka

Dr Clark will present in English. Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting will be provided.

Master of Arts in Japanese Interpreting and Translation (MAJIT) Forums are an opportunity to observe our masters students in action. Guest speakers are invited to present on a range of topics in either English or Japanese, with our masters students providing consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. Forums are free and open to anyone who wishes to attend. They will be presented face to face with an option to also join remotely via Zoom.
