Translation provides the key to intercultural knowledge and understanding in a rapidly globalising world. Researchers from UQ’s School of Languages and Cultures bring their hallmark linguistic and cultural expertise to their research and to the documentation of stories in translation from around the world.

Join us to hear our researchers present extracts from their creative work, featuring accounts of the first western resident of Bali in the 1820s, of growing up in Chile during the Pinochet regime (1973-1988), and as a member of the Russian-Jewish community in pre-War Shanghai, of life in post-Nazi Vienna, and of fleeing Algeria during the 1962 War of Independence as well as indigenous memories of stolen children, massacres, and other abuses in Northern Australia.

All are welcome and light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP by Tuesday 12th September.
